We are seeking sponsors for the upcoming James River 400 to help celebrate America’s 400th birthday and commemorate the first landing by English settlers at the mouth of the James River in 1607.

On June 2nd, 2007 to June 28th, 2007, we will launch our canoes and kayaks into the Jackson River in Allegheny Highlands and paddle 400 miles to First Landing Monument in Virginia Beach. We will traverse 60 miles of Class I-II whitewater, 260 miles of lakes, 10 miles of portages and 70 miles of tidal river and Chesapeake Bay.

Our goals are:
  1. To raise awareness of water quality and river access issues and to promote diversified recreational
    uses
of the James River of Virginia.
  2. To establish the new, 400-mile James River Heritage Water Trail
  3. To establish the new James River Canoe and Kayak Club to promote and preserve the water trail.
  4. Water samples at key locations and graph the degradation of water quality; from pure headwaters spring in the Highlands to dead zones in the Chesapeake Bay.
  5. To gather information for the guide book Canoe and Kayak Camping the James River of Virginia,
    400 Miles to the Sea

Seeking Sponsors
We seek sponsors to provide financial support, canoes and kayaks, camping gear, tents, canoe packs, dry bags, safety gear, river clothes and shoes, packaged food, sanitary equipment, food and water containers and water filters.

We appreciate your generosity and thank you for helping our trip be successful.
